After seeing so many ‘shackets’ on Instagram, I knew it was something we had to try. For those of you who are new to the idea, they are a hybrid of a shirt and jacket. Essentially, they look like a work shirt that is available in a warmer fabric.
Since our sweater fabric is like flannel, we knew it would be the perfect contender for a Shacket. We updated the design to give it more of an oversized fit — it’s longer and wider to accommodate layering and now has two chest pockets with a button closure. I am VERY excited about this new design. I love wearing the Granada button-up as an overshirt, but this new style will add the warmth I crave in winter.
Fabric: Organic Cotton Corduroy
Fiber Content: 98% Cotton and 2% Spandex. Weight is 8.7oz
Description: Soft with a light stretch. The heavier weight makes it perfect for colder weather. This fabric can grown slightly when sewn and worn and may have a slightly roomier feel than other fabrics.
Care: Machine washable. Wash on delicate with cool water. Hang dry as machine dry can distort corduroy.
Fabric: Brushed Organic Cotton Twill
Fiber Content: 100% Cotton in 7.1 oz
Description: Organic cotton is a natural fiber that has minimal environmental impacts. Given its properties, it's easy to love, maintain, and wash. Our medium-weight cotton is brushed on both sides making it feel like fleece.
Care: Preshrunk and machine washable. Wash on normal with cool water. Tumble dry or hang dry (which we prefer).

Big fan of this Shacket! It is a perfect cozy winter layer, and I also look forward to wearing it in the spring and fall. The sleeves were a little shorter than I think I was expecting, but they look perfect cuffed. The fabric has just enough give, and I can tell this will be a staple piece in my closet for a long time!
I almost did not get this lovely shacket but I am so glad I did! I put it on this morning for work, walked out to hear my wife say “you look cute”. Then when I got home she said “you’re still cute. Where’d you get that shirt?” Needless to say, she does NOT normally pay attention to clothing at all, so that is a huge compliment to the quality of this shacket. I love it.
There are so many "fast fashion" shackets on the market right now but I was waiting for one that met my values: fair trade, natural and preferably organic materials, a beautiful classic neutral, and of course excellent quality that will last for years. This was the one! When I saw it I knew, and yet it still exceeded my expectations! The lovely olive green reminds me of a courderoy shirt jacket my college football player husband wore when we were dating - those crisp fall evenings, taking walks with my love! I am a size 6/8, 34,29,39 measurements, 5'7 and 140lbs. The size 1 is perfectly roomy but not too baggy. The material is soft and warm, quality impeccable, and absolutely worth the wait! Im not taking it off the rest of the winter! Thank you, Sotela.
I've been wanting a shacket for a while but I knew that I needed something made of completely natural fibers. Enter: SOTELA! I have one other piece by the brand and I love it, so when I saw this piece on sale, I pounced. Sotela's designs are unique in their simplicity, offering a range of truly size inclusive pieces in an attractive range of flat colors. Their catalog ranges from casual to workwear, and the natural fibers that the brand uses make them perfect for rain or shine, sleet and snow. Plus, with their manufacturing done locally in Los Angeles by a small team, you can feel confident in your purchase, knowing your money is going towards supporting someone's dream and giving them a living wage.
As someone who's plus sized, this is a godsend; I'm sick and tired of the cheetah print and bedazzled pieces that I've been forced to wear! This single-toned shacket is lightweight but incredibly warm, meaning I can wear it even when it's a sunnier day. I love the little pin tucks in the back yolk, the way the buttons fit snuggly in the buttonholes—for the price, you really can't get a better, more perfect staple piece.
